What are the reasons that help a servant in repentance and turning to Allah?

Repentance to Allah is a great favor and a blessing from Him. Among the reasons for being granted success in it are: sincere intention in seeking Allah's pleasure, striving to achieve that, establishing prayer, and knowing the great status of repentance with Allah. Allah Almighty says: "And when those come to you who believe in Our verses, say, 'Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself - indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.'"
