What is the interpretation of the Noble Verse: "So woe to those who pray [But] who are heedless of their prayer"?
Allah the Almighty said: "So woe to those who pray [But] who are heedless of their prayer Those who make show [of their deeds] And withhold [small] ordinary items." Allah threatens those who pray but delay the prayer beyond its prescribed time or sometimes abandon it, and those who perform their deeds to be seen by people—these are the hypocrites who do not assist people with zakat or other benefits. Heedlessness concerning prayer includes: abandoning it entirely, or performing it outside its time, or being heedless of its initial time, or of performing it with its pillars and conditions, or of humility and contemplation. Whoever is characterized by any of these aspects receives a share of this verse, and whoever is characterized by all of them has completed the practical hypocrisy.
