Must a menstruating woman make up for the prayers that are combined with the prayer during whose time she became pure, such as the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers?

The majority of scholars hold that when a menstruating woman becomes pure, she must pray the prayer whose time she caught, and also pray with it the prayer that precedes it if they are typically combined. So, if she becomes pure before sunset, she prays Dhuhr and Asr. If she becomes pure during the time of Isha, she prays Maghrib and Isha. They reasoned that the time of the second prayer is also a valid time for the first prayer in cases of excuse. The Hanafis and Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, however, held that she is only obliged to pray the prayer whose time she caught, because the time of the first prayer expired while she was excused, so she is not required to make it up. They cited the hadith: "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the prayer has caught the prayer." The first opinion is more cautious, but if she limits herself to praying only Asr, or only Isha, we hope there will be no sin upon her.
