Will a Muslim enter Paradise directly if his good deeds outweigh his sins after his deeds are weighed, or will he first enter Hellfire to be purified from his sins?

It is obligatory to believe in the Balance (Mizan) by which the deeds of servants will be weighed on the Day of Resurrection. The Balance will be after the reckoning and before the Sirat (Bridge). After their deeds are weighed, people will be divided into three categories:

1. Those whose scales are heavy: These are the successful and fortunate ones whose good deeds outweighed their bad deeds, and they will enter Paradise.

2. Those whose scales are light: These are the losers whose bad deeds outweighed their good deeds. If they are Muslims, they will enter Hellfire for purification and then be taken out of it into Paradise. If they are disbelievers, they will abide eternally in Hellfire.

3. Those whose good deeds and bad deeds are equal: These are the People of the A'raf (Heights). They will stand in an elevated place between Paradise and Hellfire, seeing the people of both. Their ultimate destiny will be to enter Paradise thereafter.
