Is the story of some Companions complaining about Bilal's adhan, and the sun being held back until he gave the adhan, authentic and does it have a reliable source?

It has not been proven that the sun was held back for anyone except for the Prophet Joshua son of Nun, peace be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, denied that this happened to anyone else. The authentic hadiths confirm that the sun was not held back for any human being except for Joshua, peace be upon him. As for what is narrated about the sun being held back for others, or its not rising until Bilal gives the call to prayer, there is no basis for it, neither in an authentic, weak, nor fabricated narration. To assert such things without firm evidence is impermissible.
