How can I help my husband commit to prayer, knowing that he is kind and loves to do good deeds, but does not pray consistently and postpones it?

The importance of prayer lies in its being a proof of faith and piety. He who safeguards it will be even more diligent in safeguarding other obligatory duties. The husband must know that he is responsible for his family and that he is an example for them, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "All of you are shepherds, and all of you are responsible for your flock." Allah has warned those who delay prayer or are negligent in it, saying: "There came after them a generation who neglected prayers and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil" (Maryam: 59). And He said: "So woe to those who pray [But] who are heedless of their prayer" (Al-Ma'un: 4-5). If the husband does not respond to advice, preserving one's religion takes precedence over remaining with him, and it is permissible to resort to threatening to report the matter to the courts or actually reporting it to them.
