It is recommended for the worshipper to sit in the iftirash position between the two prostrations, in the first , and in the sole tashahhud. Iftirash is defined as setting the right foot upright and spreading the left foot, then sitting on it. Women are like men in this regard. This sitting posture is a (recommended act) and not obligatory. If the worshipper is unable to sit in the iftirash position, it is permissible for him to sit in any way he can, as Allah Almighty says: (So fear Allah as much as you are able).
