Is it permissible for a Muslim to perform Istikhara daily by reciting the well-known Istikhara supplication, then saying: "O Lord, any word or action that will issue from me on this day, or in this place, or when meeting such and such a person, if it contains good for me, then facilitate it; and any word or action that would issue from me and contain evil for me, then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it, and ordain for me good wherever it may be, and make me content with it"?

Istikhara is not performed for unknown, vague, or undefined matters. Rather, it is performed when a person is concerned with a specific matter, such as marriage, trade, or travel, to seek guidance on whether to proceed with it or abandon it. There are other ways to attain success in good deeds and ward off evil, such as: maintaining regular remembrance of Allah (dhikr), like saying: "In the Name of Allah, with Whose Name nothing on Earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing" three times in the morning and evening; reciting the Mu'awwidhat (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) three times; reciting the supplication upon leaving the house; increasing in supplication; and perfecting reliance on Allah and having a good opinion of Him.
