Prayer is the second pillar of Islam. One who abandons it, denying its obligation, is considered a disbeliever by consensus. However, one who abandons it out of laziness is not considered a disbeliever according to the majority of scholars. Your husband's statement that he prays for your sake and not for the sake of Allah indicates his trivialization of the matter of prayer. The first thing a servant will be held accountable for on the Day of Judgment is prayer. If it is sound, he will have succeeded and prospered, but if it is corrupt, he will have failed and lost, as the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "The first thing a servant will be held accountable for is prayer. If it is sound, he will have succeeded and prospered, but if it is corrupt, he will have failed and lost." Prayer performed in a state of major ritual impurity (janaba) is invalid due to the absence of the removal of the major ritual impurity. One who abandons prayer is someone who leaves it completely. However, one who prays sometimes and abandons it sometimes is not considered a disbeliever according to the more preponderant opinion. You should advise your husband with wisdom and gentleness. If he insists on abandoning prayer, you may refer the matter to a court.
