The answer

What is known as "friendship" between young men and women is not sanctioned by Islamic law. Speaking with a non- woman is permissible only when there is a legitimate need, provided that modesty and decorum are observed, and the conversation is limited to what is necessary. Discussing sexual matters with a non-mahram woman is a reprehensible act that violates Islamic law. The obligation is to make sincere repentance by ceasing the action, feeling remorse, and resolving never to repeat it, and to sever all ties with that woman. Repentance wipes away what came before it, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin." For those who are married, marriage is advised; for those who are unable to marry, fasting, guarding one's hearing and sight, occupying oneself with what benefits in religious and worldly matters, accompanying good people, and frequent supplication are recommended.
