What is the ruling on women and men raising their voices with religious songs and praises (madih) at weddings?

There is no religious impediment for women to sing alone and raise their voices with religious anthems, praises of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and permissible poetry at weddings and events. This is supported by the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "Proclaim this marriage, make it in the mosques, and beat the duff for it," and his saying regarding a bride: "Did you send with her a young woman to beat the duff and sing?" Similarly, it is permissible for men to raise their voices with purposeful poetry and religious anthems, as long as it is within the bounds of Islamic etiquette and free from mixing and unlawful acts.
