What is the ruling on wedding celebrations that include women chanting with loudspeakers, with some of the chants taken from contemporary songs, accompanied by the re-enactment of some scenes, and taking a fee for that?

Islamic Sharia (definition) has permitted women to recite poetry and beat the duff (a type of drum) at weddings, provided that the poetry is free of obscenity and that their voices do not reach men. This is based on Allah’s saying: "So do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet," and the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "The distinction between lawful and unlawful is the duff and the voice at weddings." It is not permissible to use loudspeakers to amplify women's voices to men. As for acting, there is no harm in it if it is free from prohibitions. It is permissible to receive payment for reciting poetry, beating the duff, and acting, as long as the work itself is permissible.
