The word "one" in the Hadith implies generality, so the renewer could be an individual or a group of people. It does not necessarily mean that renewal is embodied in one person for each century. Renewal is not limited to political or military victory; rather, it encompasses aspects of knowledge, da'wah (invitation to Islam), and education. The meaning of renewal is the emergence of scholars who enlighten people about the Qur'an and and warn them against innovations and deviations, so that they may return to the straight path.
