What is the ruling on my prayer during periods of irregular menstruation, with the discharge of blood and a brownish discharge, followed by clear menstrual blood?
Discharges mixed with blood are considered menses if they appear within a probable timeframe and their duration, including the flow, does not exceed fifteen days, after fifteen days from the previous menstruation. However, if it exceeds fifteen days, it is considered istihadha (non-menstrual bleeding). The woman then reverts to her customary period; if she has no customary period, she acts according to sound discernment. Otherwise, she observes the prevalent custom of women, which is six or seven days, and anything beyond that is istihadha. In this case, she performs (ritual bath) and wudu (ablution) for each prayer after its time has begun, and she prays the obligatory and supererogatory prayers with that wudu. As for missed prayers and fasting, one should refer to the specific concerning that matter.
