If the husband disbelieves, what is the wife's role in this situation?

If a husband commits an act of disbelief that expels him from the fold of Islam, it is obligatory to denounce him and clarify the gravity of apostasy and its consequences. His wife is then separated from him. She must abstain from him until he returns to Islam. If he returns before her iddah (waiting period) expires, the marriage remains valid. However, if her iddah expires before his return, she becomes irrevocably separated from him. If he returns to Islam after that, she has the choice to accept him as a suitor or reject him. The iddah begins from the time of his apostasy.
