What is the ruling on one who asked, "Why, O Lord, did You do such and such to me?" then regretted it and said, "Because I disobey You, O Lord"? And what is the ruling on one who was afflicted with obsessive doubts of disbelief that made him say, "Why don't we go to the cinema?" as a form of self-punishment?

It is not permissible to object to the decrees of Allah Almighty or to accuse Him of injustice. For He, glory be to Him, is Wise and Just, disposing of His servants as He wills, and He wrongs no one. He is not questioned about what He does, while they will be questioned. As for disbelief by this statement, objecting to divine decree may sometimes lead its perpetrator to disbelief. And to show discontent with divine decree through the heart, tongue, or limbs is forbidden, and it may lead to disbelief.
