I am a young man who does not want to marry, so what should I do?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Marriage is a confirmed legitimate act, and it is obligatory for those who fear falling into sin (haram). It is recommended for those who have desire and are safe from temptation (fitna). As for those who have no desire, marriage is still recommended for them due to the general evidence, or it is better for them to remain unmarried if the benefits of marriage are not achieved. Abandoning marriage is not an act of worship but a deviation from the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him. If refraining from marriage is due to a lack of desire or fear of falling short in marital rights, there is no blame, but a doctor must be consulted. For those who fear poverty and destitution, Allah has promised to assist those who seek chastity, and marriage does not hinder achievement; rather, it is a motivator. Marriage preserves half of one's faith, lowers the gaze, protects one's private parts, guards against the temptations of Satan, and brings comfort, reassurance, and tranquility.
