What is the ruling of Islamic law on dealing with people's talk after repenting from a grave sin, especially since Allah punished the partners in the sin but did not punish the questioner?

Praise be to Allah for your repentance from sin, and strive in supplication for Allah to accept your repentance and make you firm upon it. We advise you, if you are sincere in your repentance, not to pay attention to people; for they possess neither harm nor benefit. Rather, let your intention and endeavor be to please your Lord, the Almighty, the Majestic. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever seeks Allah's pleasure despite people's displeasure, Allah will be pleased with him and will make people pleased with him. And whoever seeks people's pleasure despite Allah's displeasure, Allah will be displeased with him and will make people displeased with him." If you make your concern the improvement of your deeds and drawing closer to your Lord, and do not pay attention to anyone else, then Allah will spare you the trouble of people and will replace their hatred for you with love.
