Is saying "I" forbidden or an act of Satan, despite the occurrence of "I" in the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "I am the Prophet, no lie, I am the son of Abd al-Muttalib"?

There is no harm in saying "I" unless it is intended for arrogance, showing off, or self-aggrandizement. It is disliked for a knocker to say only "I" from behind the door when asked "Who are you?" because it does not help the questioner identify the knocker. However, if he says, "I am so-and-so," the dislike is removed. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "I am the Prophet, no lie," during the Battle of Hunayn when some of the Muslim army retreated. Saying "I" is not from Satan unless the intention behind it is self-admiration and arrogance.
