How can one reconcile striving in work, self-development, and seeking to earn a living and change jobs, with the wisdom: "Your striving for what has been guaranteed to you, and your shortcomings in what has been demanded of you, is proof of the dimming of your insight"?

A servant's concern for worldly interests that his soul yearns for is not blameworthy, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Be keen on what benefits you, seek Allah's help, and do not be helpless." What is blameworthy is preferring this world over the Hereafter, and becoming engrossed in acquiring provisions while neglecting religious duties. One must be keen on religious adherence and self-development, spend in charitable causes, avoid anything that compromises religious principles or affects steadfastness, and always choose what is safest for one's faith when faced with conflicting options.
