Is it permissible to divorce a wife who is disobedient, raises her voice, and does not reciprocate feelings, despite the husband's attempts to reform her by all means?
It is advisable to keep the wife and strive to reform her, without despairing of it, and to look at her good qualities. Allah Almighty says: "And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good." And in the Hadith: "Let no believing man despise a believing woman. If he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another." If means of reform are not effective and she remains ill-mannered in cohabitation, then divorce is permissible, and it may be better, as Allah Almighty says: "But if they separate [by divorce], Allah will enrich each of them from His abundance."
