Is it permissible to give charity on behalf of a baby who died in the seventh month of pregnancy, so that he may intercede for his parents on the Day of Resurrection?

It is permissible to give charity on behalf of a fetus that died after the soul was breathed into it, because charity benefits it and increases its good deeds on the Day of Resurrection, even though it will not be held accountable. However, it is more appropriate for a person to give charity on their own behalf, as they are more in need of it than those who do not require charity, such as children. A fetus that dies after the soul is breathed into it will be an intercessor for its mother if she seeks her reward from Allah, and it is not obligatory to give charity on its behalf for it to intercede for her.
