What is the situation of a good, devout woman who married a treacherous fornicator, and what should she do, taking into account the two noble verses: "Good women are for good men" and "The fornicator does not marry except a fornicatress"?

Marrying a chaste woman to an immoral man is a grave mistake. Scholars have differed regarding its ruling. The majority of scholars hold it to be permissible, though disliked, while the Hanbalis consider it impermissible and invalid. The wife should not remain under the authority of such a man; rather, she should seek a divorce from him, even if it requires compensation.
