What is the ruling on drawing purposeful anime stories (manga) with the aim of serving religion and society? Is it permissible to draw characters with a neck or by separating the head from the body to avoid doubt? Does drawing anime fall under the category of depicting animate beings? Does the ruling on drawing it for entertainment differ from drawing it for the benefit of Muslims? Is it permissible to draw animals that speak and recite the Quran to convey positive messages? Can imagination, comedy, and Islamic culture be added to these stories? Is this work considered a necessity or a need, and is it a condition that the artist be a da'i (preacher)? Is it permissible to translate these stories and participate in competitions with them? Can Istikhara be performed before starting this project?

Drawings of incomplete creatures are lighter in حكم (ruling), and some scholars have permitted them. Avoiding drawing altogether is more cautious to prevent hesitation and the severe warning against image-makers. Enjoying purposeful anime drawings is not sinful if the intention is beneficial, and there is a difference between drawing for entertainment and purposeful drawing. Living beings include humans and animals. Drawing acts of kindness to animals or stories of memorizing the Quran is permissible, but do not draw animals reading the Quran; out of fear of contradicting the glorification of Allah's book. It is permissible to add entertainment, imagination, comedy, and Islamic culture to stories, and participating with permissible anime stories in competitions without compensation is permissible, but with compensation, it is not permissible. It is not a condition for the permissibility of drawing that it be from a شيخ (scholar) or داعية (preacher), and it is permissible to translate them. Drawing purposeful stories is not a necessity but may be a need, and performing الاستخارة (prayer for guidance) regarding them is prescribed.
