Drawing inanimate objects is permissible. However, drawing animate beings that are complete in creation is forbidden according to the majority of scholars. Exceptions to this include making toys for young children for the purpose of amusing and educating them, and if the image is missing a part essential for life (such as the head or chest), or if the facial features are not distinct (such as the usual eyes and nose). Drawing Japanese anime does not appear to be outside the scope of forbidden imagery if it is complete in creation, unless it is for young children for the purpose of amusing and educating them. Its purpose for entertainment does not make it permissible if it is otherwise forbidden. The intention to imitate God's creation is not a prerequisite for it to be forbidden. Drawing inanimate objects and animate beings that are incomplete in creation offers a wider scope for avoiding forbidden drawing.
