Is it permissible to use a hair extension attached to the scalp with an adhesive for the treatment of severe hair loss, knowing that it allows water to reach the scalp and that the hair underneath it is shaven?
"Connecting hair with a wig that is attached and fixed to the scalp is considered a prohibited form of hair extension. This is evidenced by the Prophet's (peace be upon him) cursing of the woman who extends hair and the woman who asks for hair to be extended, and his prohibition against a woman adding anything to her head. Hair loss does not make this permissible, based on the hadith of the woman whose daughter suffered from an ailment that caused her hair to fall out, and her husband urged her to extend it. She asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) if she could extend her hair, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) cursed the woman who extends hair and the woman who asks for hair to be extended."
