What is the ruling regarding an Imam who enters the mosque and sits in the prayer area facing the worshippers until the prayer is established?

It is for anyone who enters the mosque to pray two rak'ahs before sitting, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "When any of you enters the mosque, let him not sit until he prays two rak'ahs." If he prays the regular Sunnah prayer, it suffices for the greeting of the mosque. The Imam should be keen on observing this Sunnah.
