Is it permissible for those arriving for the obligatory prayer to sit and talk in front of the mosque after the Adhan, instead of entering and performing Tahiyat Al-Masjid (two rak'ahs upon entering the mosque) and engaging in remembrance (dhikr) and reciting the Quran? And was this from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and the righteous predecessors?

What is prescribed for a Muslim upon entering the mosque is to enter, pray, engage in remembrance of Allah, supplicate, and prepare for prayer. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "A servant remains in prayer as long as he is in his prayer place awaiting the prayer," and his saying: "Supplication is not rejected between the Adhan (definition) and the Iqamah (definition)." As for standing in front of the mosque to chat and joke, it deprives the Muslim of the rewards of arriving early, catching the opening takbeer (Takbeerat al-Ihram (definition)), and achieving devotion (khushu'). Allah, the Almighty, said: "Successful indeed are the believers Those who are humbly submissive in their prayers," and the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever prays to Allah for forty days in congregation, catching the first Takbeer, will be granted two immunities: immunity from the Fire and immunity from hypocrisy." This standing should be abandoned, and one should hasten to enter the mosque. However, standing there is not forbidden as long as they pray in congregation, unless it leads to missing the prayer or disturbing those inside the mosque, in which case it becomes forbidden and must be abandoned.
