What should a Muslim do if some insist on saying, "Salat al-Eid, may Allah reward you," before the prayer, and should he pray at home?

The jurists have agreed on the impermissibility of the Adhan (call to prayer) and Iqamah (second call to prayer) for the Eid prayer.

They differed on calling people to it with other words, such as "As-Salatu Jami'ah" (prayer is congregational), holding two views:

1. First View (Prohibition): It should not be announced with anything. This is the view of the Malikis and Hanbalis, and the choice of the Permanent Committee, Ibn 'Uthaymin, and As-Sa'di. They cited as evidence the hadith of Jabir ibn Abdullah Al-Ansari: "There is no Adhan for the prayer on the day of Eid al-Fitr when the Imam comes out, nor after he comes out, nor Iqamah, nor call, nor anything."

2. Second View (Permissibility): It is permissible to announce it with the phrase "As-Salatu Jami'ah" or similar words. This is the view of the Hanafis and Shafi'is, the correct opinion among the Hanbalis, and the madhhab of the Zahiris. They used analogy to the eclipse prayer as evidence.

The preponderant view is the first one (prohibition). However, there is no harm for someone who attends the Eid prayer and hears a call like "As-Salatu Jami'ah," as it is a recognized view among some jurists. It is preferable to advise those in charge gently and kindly before people gather to avoid discord.
