What is the ruling on gloating over oneself between myself and myself, and will I be held accountable for it? And how do I ignore it?

What is forbidden is gloating over a Muslim, based on the Hadith: "Do not express malicious joy at your brother's misfortune, lest Allah have mercy on him and afflict you." As for what occurs in the mind without indulgence or the ability to repel it, there is no blame for it. Obsessive thoughts are very harmful, and one should strive against them, abandon them, and not indulge in them.
