Is a woman cursed if she asks her husband to refrain from intimacy with her after he marries another, and she contents herself with raising their children in exchange for him providing for her and for them, and does the ruling change if the husband agrees to that?

It is impermissible for a wife to refuse her husband's bed if he calls her to it, even if his reason for doing so is his marriage to another woman. If she refuses, she is sinful, deserving of the angels' curse, and considered rebellious (nashiz). A rebellious wife is not entitled to maintenance. However, if the spouses agree to this by mutual consent, there is no harm in it, as Allah Almighty says: "And if a woman fears from her husband high-handedness or estrangement, there is no sin upon them if they make terms of peace between themselves – and peace is better." In this case, the angels' curse does not befall her because the husband is not angry.
