What is the ruling regarding a woman who starts menstruating while she is praying?

If a woman menstruates during prayer, her prayer becomes void, and she must refrain from praying until she becomes pure. She is not required to make up the obligatory prayer if she menstruates during its time, due to the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Is it not true that when one of you menstruates, she neither fasts nor prays?" However, if the prayer that became void due to menstruation was a missed prayer, she must make it up after purification.
