What is the ruling on abandoning work to preserve one's religion and protect oneself from tribulations, even if the family has no other source of income?

The wife is not required to provide for the household and children; rather, the husband alone is responsible for it. Therefore, you are not obligated to work to cover household expenses. If you are exposed to temptations in your work, you should stay at home and demand that your husband fulfill his duty to provide for you. However, if you are safe from temptation in your work and there is no Shariah prohibition in it, then it is better for you to continue working until Allah facilitates a source of livelihood for your husband.
