Why was the Companion Abdullah ibn Abbas perplexed in interpreting verse 12 of Surat At-Talaq: (Allah is He Who created seven heavens and of the earth the like thereof), and does the verse mean the existence of parallel universes?

Allah Almighty mentioned that He created seven heavens and the like thereof of the earth, and He sent down the cosmic and legislative commands so that His servants may know His power and knowledge. The narration attributed to Ibn Abbas, which states that each of the seven earths has its own Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Jesus, as our Prophet, Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Jesus, is not authentic. If it were authentically reported from him, it would be understood that he derived it from Israʼiliyyat (Jewish traditions).
