What is the ruling on games that develop the mind and involve the use of intellect and performing calculations, such as Sudoku and Minesweeper, by analogy with the prohibition of chess?

It is permissible to play games about which no religious text has been revealed and no ruling has been authentically reported, so long as they do not contain শরী'আ-prohibited elements, or lead to the neglect of an obligation, or the squandering of a right, especially if they do not become a habit and contain benefit, such as mental or physical exercise.
