Indonesia is the largest Muslim-majority country in terms of population (over 200 million people), and the percentage of Muslims there exceeds 85%. Islam entered it through Muslim traders and preachers in the sixth century AH, and its first Muslim king was Sultan Al-Salih (died 1297 CE) on the island of Sumatra. Islam spread widely there at the beginning of the fifteenth century CE, and its largest mosque is the Istiqlal Mosque. The prevalent there is the Shafi'i madhhab.
