Is it permissible to abort a fetus within the first forty days of pregnancy due to difficult financial and health circumstances, knowing that there are opinions that permit this before the ensoulment of the fetus?

It is not permissible to abort a pregnancy except for a very narrow set of legitimate reasons. If the pregnancy is within the first forty days, it is permissible to abort it for a legitimate interest or to avert an anticipated harm. However, it is not permissible to abort it due to fear of hardship in raising children or merely to be content with a certain number of children. Therefore, abortion due to financial circumstances is not permissible. As for medical reasons, abortion is permissible if there is an anticipated harm to the mother, but it is not permissible merely for a hardship that can be endured. The couple must fear Allah, thank Him for the blessing of a child, and be content with His decree.
