Is it permissible not to greet a brother who cheated in the division of inheritance?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Inheritance has a lawful division clearly outlined by Allah and His Messenger, and detailed by the jurists. If your brother divided the inheritance in an unlawful manner and you are not satisfied, you have the right to take your case to the Sharia court. There is no harm in taking your share of the inheritance, but it is not permissible to boycott your brother. It is better to maintain ties with him and greet him with peace, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade a Muslim from shunning his brother for more than three days, and the better of them is the one who initiates the greeting.
