Is it permissible to overstate the value of tuition fees to obtain additional expenses to meet a need?

A student's lying about tuition fees to obtain a financial difference is impermissible. It falls under the category of consuming wealth unjustly, which is forbidden, as stated in Allah Almighty's words: "And do not consume your properties among yourselves through falsehood." It is obligatory for the one who does this to repent and return what they took to the concerned party, or, if unable to return it, to spend its equivalent amount on general public benefits for Muslims, such as orphanages.
