Is it permissible for a woman who wears the niqab to work as a primary school teacher—for first, second, and third graders—on the condition that she removes or lifts her niqab and uncovers her face inside the classroom, given that there are cameras which are not constantly monitored but are referred to in case a problem occurs?

It is permissible for a woman to uncover her face in front of students in the first three stages (below the age of ten). There is no objection to a woman working in the presence of surveillance cameras. It is permissible to look at her pictures and videos when necessary, and it is preferred that a woman does so; otherwise, a man may do so to achieve a benefit.

Scholars have made exceptions for cases where it is permissible to look at a woman's face for the sake of a benefit, including: for testimony, or for a transaction of sale or lease, or when a doctor needs to examine her, or for a suitor when marrying, or for an old woman who is not desired. It was narrated from Ibn Qudamah in Al-Mughni: "Ahmad said... and if one deals with a woman in a sale or lease, he may look at her face to identify her, so that he can seek recourse against her for any defect. It has been narrated from Ahmad that he disliked this for a young woman but not for an old woman. Perhaps he disliked it for one who fears temptation, or who can do without the transaction. However, with necessity and absence of desire, there is no harm."
