Does the guarantor of a foundling inherit his money in exchange for raising him, educating him, and spending on him?

Sponsoring a foundling is a communal obligation (fard kifayah) and carries immense reward. A foundling is in greater need of sponsorship than an orphan. Sponsorship does not establish inheritance rights between the sponsor and the sponsored; each will be inherited by their own relatives. If the foundling has no heir, their wealth goes to the Muslim public treasury (Bayt al-Mal). If the sponsor spent money on the foundling with the intention of being reimbursed, they have the right to claim it back from the foundling or from the public treasury. However, if they spent it with the intention of donating it, they do not have the right to claim it back.
