What is the ruling of Sharia on marrying a girl who suffers from epilepsy, and are the young man's parents entitled to prevent him from this marriage despite his awareness of the illness, or is it forbidden for them to do so on the grounds of depriving the girl of her destined share?

Parents should not prevent their son from marrying a woman of religion and good character. However, if they insist on refusing, the son must obey them, because obedience to them takes precedence over his desire to marry this woman. If the parents' reason for refusal is that the woman suffers from epilepsy, they should let him marry her, for he may seek reward through this, and perhaps her illness is treatable. If the young man refrains from marrying her because of her illness or because his family prevents him, there is no sin upon them in that, for marriage is based on consent.
