Does a family whose provider has passed away, leaving four sons and a wife without a monthly income, deserve zakat, knowing that the eldest son works in the summer to cover the expenses of his marriage, and that the company which was their source of livelihood has ceased operations, and that they face difficulties in covering rent, bills, and food? And what advice can be offered to a daughter whose widowed mother suffers from constant anxiety over her children due to poor financial conditions resulting from fraud and the theft of her deceased husband's money?

There is no objection to the aforementioned family receiving zakat (definition), as long as they do not have sufficient means for their expenses and rent. They are, in this state, poor or needy. The fact that they own land for sale does not prevent them from receiving zakat, as long as they are in need and have not yet sold it. The widowed mother is advised to be patient with Allah's decree and to know that Allah has guaranteed provision, for He says: "And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision" (Hud: 4), and He says: "And how many a creature carries not its [own] provision. Allah provides for it and for you." (Al-Ankabut: 60). Provision is decreed, as stated in the Hadith (definition).
