Does the reward for attending a funeral prayer and accompanying the bier reach the deceased if that is intended for him?

The reward for praying over the deceased (Salat al-Janazah) reaches the deceased according to one of the two opinions of scholars. Some scholars hold that the reward for physical acts of worship, such as prayer, recitation, and other acts, reaches the deceased, and this is the correct view due to the evidence supporting it. Others, however, believe that it does not reach the deceased in any way.
