The answer

A Muslim must avoid sins and places where sins are committed. Therefore, the questioner should not go to shops where abominations (munkarat) are present, except in cases of extreme necessity and only to the extent of the need, while denouncing the abomination if she is able. She is permitted to look at what she intends to buy, and if this necessitates seeing something impermissible—such as indecent pictures—there is no blame upon her, provided she does not follow one glance with another, due to the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "O Ali, do not follow one glance with another, for the first is yours, but the last is not."
