Do the physical and psychological effects of masturbation disappear after quitting it?

Masturbation is legally forbidden due to its harm to the body and soul. Whoever has committed it must repent immediately by abandoning the act, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it, in fulfillment of Allah's saying: "Do they not know that Allah is He who accepts repentance from His servants and takes charities and that Allah is the Accepter of repentance, the Merciful?" Abandoning sins expands the chest and removes worries, while addiction to them causes tightness of the chest, as Allah said: "And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a difficult life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind." As for the disappearance of physical effects, medical consultation should be sought for that.
