Do my parents have the right to prevent me from going to the mosque for teaching and attending lectures as a means of pressure to make me return to studying at a mixed-gender university?

Obeying and honoring one's parents is among the greatest acts of nearness to Allah. However, obedience is only in what is good, not in what is evil, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator." A girl's study in a co-educational university in Western countries is not among the good deeds in which parents must be obeyed; rather, it is a reprehensible act due to the mixing, temptation, and spread of corruption that result from it. In this case, a woman's education is not considered a necessity. Similarly, a father is not permitted to prevent his daughter from going to the mosque if she adheres to Islamic manners, especially if the prevention is a punishment for her disobedience to him in committing a sin. It is recommended to deal with parents with gentleness and wisdom, and to seek the help of someone who can advise the father and enlighten him about the rulings of Islamic law.
