Is it better to continue performing supererogatory absolute prayers on some days and abandoning them on other days, or to abandon them altogether and suffice with dhikr and Quran recitation to avoid boredom and apathy?

Persevering in supererogatory good deeds—such as voluntary prayers, fasting, and remembrances—is better than performing them intermittently, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The most beloved deeds to Allah are those performed regularly, even if they are few." Abandoning supererogatory acts due to an inability to persevere in them is incorrect. Rather, it is recommended to persevere in them, and there is no sin in abandoning them with or without an excuse, because they are supererogatory. Abandoning them only results in missing the reward for perseverance. And whoever Allah has opened the door for in the area of remembrance and recitation should adhere to that and persevere in it.
