Is it better to limit oneself to the supererogatory prayers (nawafil) reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, while dedicating the rest of the time to reading the Qur'an, sincere devotion (ikhlas), sending blessings upon the Prophet, and amplified glorification (tasbih), in order to ensure consistency and avoid boredom and slackening due to excessive supererogatory prayers?
You must be diligent in performing acts of obedience consistently, for the most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are most enduring, even if they are few. Persevering in a small amount is better than doing a lot that you grow tired of and do not continue. Take from the supererogatory acts what will mend your heart and expand your chest, and enter through the door of obedience that opens for you. Know that Allah has opened the doors of goodness and various types of supererogatory acts and means of drawing closer to Him to suit people's dispositions, for everyone is facilitated for what they were created. So, among them are those whose master deed and path is knowledge, and among them are those whose path is remembrance (dhikr), and among them is prayer, and among them is benevolence and giving far-reaching benefit, and among them is reciting the Quran, and among them is fasting, and among them is enjoining good and forbidding evil, and among them is performing Hajj and Umrah, and among them is cutting off attachments, dedicating one's resolve, and constantly observing (God).
