What was the shape of the Prophet's turban (peace be upon him), and did he wear the shemagh, and was his turban similar to that of Al-Azhari or the Shiites?

It was part of the Prophet’s guidance regarding the turban that when he wore it, he would let its end or ends hang down between his shoulders or in front of him. Thus, his turban differed from the types of turbans mentioned. As for the shemagh, it has not been reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wore it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was not restricted to a specific style or color of clothing. He wore whatever was available from the clothing of the people of his time, and this included the turban. He might have worn a black or yellow turban, or he might have worn a qalansuwah (cap), and sometimes he combined them, placing the qalansuwah under the turban.
